Submitted Local Agenda 21 for the further promotion of the environment of the municipality (23/03/2009)

Archena Mayor, Manuel Marcos Sánchez Cervantes, said this morning in the presentation of the Local Agenda 21, Archena that the City Council created a permanent representative bodies in order to manage and produce all work on the development of this agenda, "because the environment needs the cooperation of all citizens is necessary, therefore, greater citizen participation as possible to carry out a proper environmental management."

This event occurred as official opening of the Environment Week which started today in Archena and ending on Sunday, day 29, with a hiking trail by Archena Riverside Drive.

The opening ceremony also attended by the Director General of Planning and Environmental Control of the Autonomous Community, Joss Francisco Espejo, the Regional Director of Local Agenda 21, Jose Padilla and Councilman Antonio area, Joaquín López.

The first municipal authority archenera stressed the coincidence of the celebration last Sunday's World Water Day and the day before the World Tree Day.

He said "I am fully satisfied that the main slogan of the day yesterday was 'Shared Water', the meaning is also important for the region."

For its part, the Director of Local Agenda 21, José Antonio Padilla, spoke about the objectives, methodology and significance of local sustainability strategic project of the department and how to implement and develop until December of this year's agenda Archena environmental.

The municipal head of the Environment explained that the Local Agenda 21 is a municipal organization whose main tool is the creation of organs in all municipal sectors to guide all initiatives arising from any authority, organization or institution, citizens, associations and other groups to preserve or promote the environment in the municipality.

The events continue all week with lectures, workshops, school visits on how to make soap with used oil, organic nutrition, reforestation Micaela College Sanz and hiking activities.
