The plenum unanimously agreed to request the National Government not to reduce local revenues in the General State Budget 2009 (30/09/2008)

Full Archena City Council unanimously by the three political groups of the Corporation approved a motion by the People's Party to request the National Government the urgent reform of local financing and income that does not reduce local government transfers in the State Budget 2009.

In that motion is specified that the City of Archena claim the Government of Spain a simultaneous agreement connected with the Autonomous Communities and municipalities for urgent reform of local financing, which is parallel to the regional as well as urging the Government to which establishes the bases of the Local Agreement.

In this way, municipalities can count on before the end of the year with a clear and precise rules that are appropriate to actual funding needs and also to address the deficit driven by the provision of services that are not within its competence.

They are also going to ask the Government for the future reform of the Basic Law on Local Government to address the precise delineation of the powers of local councils, to avoid the current situation of taking powers are inappropriate.

City Council require the Government Archena also the urgent creation of a Local Council Financial Policy to address issues of interest to both the state and municipalities.
