The Mayor of Murcia, Patricia Fernandez, together with the Councillor of Commerce, José Juan González, Councillor of Tourism, Maria del Carmen Alcolea, and many merchants have reopened this morning the facilities of the municipal food market, after its recent remodeling.
In this first phase of reforms they have invested over 43,000 euros, and the work consisted mainly in changing existing fixtures and installing new ones, all with LED system.
It has also changed the skylight inside a translucent plate and renewed the pavement, in addition to performing other small maintenance jobs.
The Mayor stressed the importance of this food market in the town, while he wants to turn it into a place of reference within the region.
Patricia Fernandez thanked traders "extraordinary collaboration during the project and the works" and expressed his satisfaction with the outcome of this first remodeling, highlighting, above all, the creation of a children's playroom, inside the market .
The Department of Consumer Affairs, Commerce and Handicraft of the Autonomous Community of Murcia, has made a contribution of 20,000 euros for such remodeling, with which wants to bet on the traditional retail trade.
Meanwhile, market traders have expressed their appreciation for the efforts that the City of Murcia and the Autonomous Community of Murcia are being made to encourage purchases in shops in the town.
The first municipal authority has also advanced in the coming months, this same market will stage several performances, thanks to obtaining a grant from the Ministry of Commerce, worth 102,000 euros, which it is intended to give a definite market, which dates from 1952, and into a modern, comfortable and attractive market for impulse purchases.
