More than 1,800 families served and about 50,000 kilos of food obtained are the main data from the Municipal Solidarity Pantry (06/08/2020)

| Service created by the Mayor as soon as the health crisis began to help those most in need | More than 1,800 families served, some 6,000 people, and more than 50,000 kilos of food obtained are the main data of the Solidarity Pantry, launched by the Department of Social Policy, from the first moments of the mandatory confinement decreed by the State of Alarm imposed by the Government of the Nation, due to the health crisis generated by the Covid-19 pandemic. This municipal service was created by the Mayor of Archena, Patricia Fernández, to immediately help families and people from Archena, who, caused by this pandemic, had lost their jobs or others that their precariousness became even more latent. This solidarity service was carried out by the workers of the Department, volunteers from the Municipal Volunteer Plan and the person in charge of this municipal department, Mari Carmen Alcolea. The kilos collected from food and non-perishable provisions have always come from companies and businesses in Archena and other places in the Region, from residents of the town and from the Regional Food Bank, and will continue to be delivered to needy families who will probably request it until the end of year. The responsible mayor herself assures with satisfaction that "the solidarity shown by the people of Archena was made clear on several occasions by having to change the location of this pantry several times due to space problems."
