In this way, it will reactivate the overnight stays in order to cushion the impact caused by the Covid-19 This was announced by the counselor Cristina Sánchez during the presentation of the Summer 2020 Tourism Promotion Campaign in Archena, together with the mayor of the municipality, Patricia Fernández, where she explained that she is finalizing the reactivation of a specific marketing operation for health tourism with the operator national specialized 'Nextel'. For her part, the Mayor of Archena has assured that the measures carried out for the prevention of COVID19 have been "the right ones, and I am referring to the figures, because if we currently have 30 percent hotel occupancy, thus doubling the figures offered regional tourism, and the Archena spa still more than doubles these figures in terms of occupancy, so far, the performance of more than 600 tests on workers in the sector and tourists, have made Archena a Safe Tourist Destination.
" The planning of this operation, in which the Ministry has invested 9,000 euros, aims to increase the number of thermal overnight stays during 2020, distributed in different establishments in the Region such as the Archena Spa, which has three hotels; the Leana Spa, in Fortuna; Hotel 'Thalasia Costa de Murcia' and the Vital Center Aguas Salinas, in San Pedro del Pinatar; or the Hotel Puerto Juan Montiel, in Águilas.
These centers have already billed more than 35,000 euros in reserves thanks to this agreement. The counselor indicated that "the health and beauty product is a segment of the tourist offer with great potential, offering significant advantages in terms of seasonality, diversification and profitability."
