Agricultural spent 10,000 euros of EU funds for rural development training activities in Murcia (16/02/2014)

The Ministry of Agriculture and Water, through the Directorate General of Irrigation and Rural Development, the City of Murcia granted a total of 10,000 euros from the Leader Community Initiatives to conduct training courses and workshops aimed at the integration of Students in the labor market, promoting self-employment and education to prevent violence.

Thanks to this aid were delivered 250 hours of training teaching hundreds of students in geriatric nursing activities, child care, cultural tourism and restoration of furniture, among others.

The Director General of Irrigation and Rural Development, Julio Bernal, stressed the importance of training "as a means of insertion of the rural population in the labor market" and to "bridge the digital divide between rural and urban areas."

Funding for these courses by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD), which contributes 75 percent of the amount.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment and the Autonomous Community co-finance the remaining 25 percent.

Aid for this project have been managed by the Local Action Group Association for Integrated Rural Development of the Municipalities of the Vega del Segura, a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote the comprehensive and sustainable development of this region.
