The Directorate General of Irrigation and Rural Development of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water has awarded the City of Murcia aid of 70,912 euros from EU funds Leader, for the equipping of the Municipal School of Music, which has been managed through Local Action Group for Integrated Rural Development of the municipalities of Vega Baja del Segura.

The support has enabled furnish a total of 19 dwellings, including classrooms, offices, toilets, halls and library, as well as provide them with the precise supplementary materials for proper operation, such as bulletin boards signaling.

Furthermore, it has the multipurpose room equipped with different video and audio materials necessary for the training of students, such as video projector, large screen, microphones, mixer and various speakers.

This measure included in the Rural Development Programme of the Region of Murcia 2007-2013, is part of the projects financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) for the provision of basic services for the economy and rural population.

This fund covers 75 percent of the total amount of each of the projects approved for development in rural areas.

The remaining 25 percent is funded in equal parts by the Ministry and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment.

The Director General of Irrigation and Rural Development, Julio Bernal, stressed the importance of such aid for the development of rural areas in the region, "and that makes available services that improve their quality of life."

Reference Center

The Municipal School of Music Archena has become a reference center of musical education in the region.

Began operations in 1996 and currently has 325 students of various ages and 15 teachers.

Its educational offer has adapted since its launch.

Currently has seven training areas ranging from the youngest to the adults as well as teacher training, new technologies and modern music, among others.

Within the instrumental area taught piano, guitar, percussion, clarinet, saxophone, flute and Neck, trumpet, violin, drums, electric guitar and electric bass.
