The initiative has received a grant from the SEF of € 264,000

A total of 18 unemployed people aged between 25 and 54 from Archena have completed a Community program which has alternated training with paid employment, and which enables them to work in the gardening sector.

This initiative has received a grant of 264,000 euros from the Ministry of Economic Development, Tourism and Employment, through the Regional Employment and Training Service (SEF).

Participants today received a certificate of professionalism, which accredits the skills acquired during these months of training and effective work, in an event attended by SEF's general director, Alejandro Zamora, and the mayor of the municipality, Patricia Fernández.

With this certificate in the specialty of installation and maintenance of gardens and green areas, students now have the opportunity to work as agricultural laborers, gardening laborers and nursery workers, or opt for self-employment by creating their own gardening company.

Zamora emphasized the dual utility of this type of program "because at the same time it forms the students in a certain office, it connects them with the work world by giving them a paid job." In addition, the work they have done in the parks and gardens of Archena Has resulted in the benefit of its municipality and its neighbors. "

The students have completed 1,920 hours of training, of which 498 have corresponded to theoretical classes and 1,422 to paid work included in the program, and which constitute the eminently practical part of this training action.

For this, these unemployed have been hired by the City of Archena to carry out maintenance work on gardens and parks in the town.

Local Public Employment Programs

On the other hand, the SEF has granted the Consistory of this locality a subsidy of 38,500 euros to develop two local public employment programs, which will allow the recruitment of seven young people under 30 enrolled in Juvenile Guarantee.

In this way, the City Council will employ five young people who do not study or work to develop works to improve and maintain the municipal green areas, while two other young people will be hired to revitalize and improve the socio-cultural and tourist services of Archena.

Likewise, another 15 young beneficiaries of Youth Guarantee will be trained as administrative assistants with the course of 'Auxiliary Operations of Administrative and General Services'.

For the unemployed in general is directed the 'Teaching of Vocational Training for Employment' course.

Positive evolution of employment

Prior to the awarding of diplomas, Zamora met with the mayor of Archena, Patricia Fernández, to address joint actions that serve to boost the municipality's employment.

In addition, the meeting also served to analyze the positive evolution of employment data in the locality, where 212 people left unemployment during the last year, which brought unemployment down by 13.23 percent.

With regard to job creation, the number of Social Security affiliates has increased by 178 people over the last 12 months, an increase of 3.82%, which Affiliated in the municipality in 4,836 people.
