International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (16/11/2018)

On November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women is celebrated, a day that serves to denounce the violence that is exerted on women around the world and to demand policies in all countries for their eradication.

From the Department of Women of Archena has developed a wide and varied program of activities with the commitment to involve society to achieve real equality between men and women and to eliminate this social scourge.

The mayor of Archena, Patricia Fernandez, accompanied by the Councilor for Culture and Women, Mari Carmen Alcolea, have presented the motif for November 25 and have expressed the effort and commitment of the local administration in the eradication of gender violence

Scheduled activities

The activities will begin this Monday, November 19, at 9:00 h.

in the morning at the "El Ope" School, with a workshop on awareness and prevention of gender violence by CAVI professionals "Valle de Ricote".

At 5:00 p.m.

Professionals from the Center for Attention to Victims of Gender Violence will offer another talk entitled "DO YOU KNOW?" At the Civic Center for Women.

In addition, on Tuesday, November 20, the mayor of Archena and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Family and Equal Opportunities will inaugurate the photography exhibition CUIDA-T.

This photographic exhibition "Cuida-T", is promoted in the UPCT, by the Equality Unit ... It is an idea that is born of young people and that has young people as a target audience.

This exhibition gathers the photography works carried out by girls belonging to the group of adolescents of the CAVI (Center for Attention to the Victims of Gender Violence) and it is a great way to reach them and an opportunity to address some of the themes that they visualize The exhibition.

Each one of the photographs has its own history, inviting to reflect and to treat different topics related to gender violence, highlighting: Equality and gender violence: how young people position themselves;

Cultural stereotypes: how they are present in our lives;

Reflection on concepts (cutting, romantic love versus free love, emotional depression);

symbolic violence: social constructs, gender roles and unequal power relations;

Cutting: also called self injury or risuka

With the exhibition, it is intended to reflect on the importance of education, awareness and critical thinking, the value of identifying the reality with which we relate, to transform the toxic relationships between adolescents in equal relationships, where each and every one is owner and owner of himself.

will pronounce the Manifesto against Gender Violence.

Then there will be an exhibition of personal defense and zumba, by "Mueve-T" against Gender Violence.

Finally, the mayor has influenced the "strong commitment of the municipal institution that represents in the fight against gender violence and the need to continue promoting public policies that allow its elimination", and recalled that from the City Council is put to disposition of all women victims of violence in Archena and Valle de Ricote and also their children, who also suffer this abuse, a network of comprehensive care from the CAVi.
