Thirty colored carpets and more people than ever, in the procession and the solemn mass in honor of the Patron of Corpus (01/06/2018)

This year there were thirty carpets of colored salts that decorated the evening of the procession of Corpus Christi, some 1,600 meters, which included the main streets of Archena, such as San Juan, Carril, Siria and Vicente Aleixandre. get to the other Parish of La Purísima-El Corpus.

A solemn campaign mass was held in the Plaza del Príncipe and presided over by the Mayor of Archena, Patricia Fernández, along with important local military officers, Local Police Chief and councilors of the government team and representatives of the PSOE, as well as queens and ladies of the parties, the preacher Marcial Guillén and the Commission of Celebrations in full.

The neighbors of Archena woke up this Thursday with bell tolling and a volley of salvos in honor of their patron, announcing the big day of the festivities, 'The Day of Corpus'.

Throughout the morning there were many people who came to contemplate the altars and carpets, installed along the route of the procession, from the church of San Juan Bautista, to that of Corpus Christi-La Purisima, some of which They were manufactured during the previous night by organized clubs.

At around 7:00 pm, the Eucharist began, in the Plaza del Príncipe, concelebrated by the parish priests of Archena and the vicar of the Archena-Cieza area and those who accompanied former priests who were already parish priests of Archena.

A little later than an hour, the procession began with the children of first communion together with their catechists, who followed the banners of the different processional brotherhoods of Holy Week, the flags of the sections of the Nocturnal Adoration, and finalized the float with the custody of the Most Holy, accompanied by numerous parishioners, many 'manolas', officiating priests, local and military authorities, queens and ladies of the festivities and the Santa Cecilia de Archena musical group that entertained during the journey with their processional musical notes

The altars, a dozen, in honor of the patron, also accompanied in the procession of the Blessed Sacrament.

Archena is the only town in the world that celebrates the procession of Corpus Christi in the afternoon, according to a papal bull of the early twentieth century, and this is one of the most special moments of the year for archeneros
